A member asked:

A girl was mad so she screamed and yelled in my ear for about 2~3 minutes, no ringing, but kinda full, will my inner ear ( the little hearing hairs ) get permanently damaged?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible: Hi The human voice can get loud enough that it can cause permanent hearing damage. For 85 dB of sound pressure, safe exposure time is 8 hours and for every increase in 3 dB from there, safe exposure time is cut in half. So 88 dB is safe for 4 hr exposure. 91 dB is 2 hrs, etc. If you have ringing the day after, there's a good chance you sustained injury. Hope this helps
