NSAIDs: If NSAIDs , ice pack or heating pad helps, give it a couple more weeks to see if the problem improves. Else you will need to see an orthopedic doctor and will likely need some physical therapy .

Sounds like: Rotator cuff "strain" (or possibly a small tear. This "cuff" is actually a group of tendons surrounding the upper portion of your arm which connect to the muscles which move your shoulder joint! Apply ICE/HEAT (whichever helps most) and ask your PCP for a referral to an orthopedist..."weeks" is a bit long for a simple strain/sprain. Hope this helps Dr Z

Rotator cuff injury: Your symptoms are most consistent with a rotator cuff injury, though I cannot be completely sure without an exam. See a doctor soon. You may just need some physical therapy, which can be extremely beneficial. If you avoid using your shoulder/arm, you run the risk of getting a frozen shoulder which is more difficult to treat.

Hard to say without: a proper exam but it could be a rotator cuff problem, overuse syndrome, or a strain to name a few. NSAID's and physio would be a god place to start.
