Depends on stage: Depending on the valve and the amount of damage as well as symptoms, usually medical treatment is optimized and adjusted and the surgery is usually recommended on specific anatomic changes and/ or if symptoms become uncontrollable. Tight follow up is usually needed in order to time right the surgery ( now intravascular procedures are available for repair/ replacement.
