A member asked:

Had heart surgery, mitral valve repair 3 months ago, if exposed to second hand smoke, tabacco or marijuana, in a open space, is this bad for me?

Not likely harmful: Depends on how much smoke, for how long. Tobacco sidestream or second-hand smoke is more dangerous than marijuana. Ideally, i would avoid being exposed to any second hand smoke if possible, but limited occasional exposures, particularly in an open area, are very unlikely to do any harm. However, if you find yourself coughing or experiencing throat irritation, go somewhere else.

No: While no one wants to be exposed to smoke, being in an open space is unlikely to have any more effect than living in the city. Try to stay away form smoke in contained spaces.
