Possibly: That positional symptom may be due to a torn meniscus, spur or ligament problem. An MRI of your knee is the most definitive way to make a diagnosis and get advice.

IT Band: Iliotibial Band Syndrome (IT Band) can cause pain on the lateral or outside part of the knee. Most common in runners. Common syndrome aggravated by crossing the affected leg. I would expect more swelling and tenderness with a meniscus tear. Stretching, Cold therapy, rest, and NSAIDS are helpful. Good luck
