Bloating: If your abdomen is truly distended,painful,tender and there is nausea and inability to pass gas rectally or have a bowel movement then an examination by a physician is needed to check for intestinal obstruction. However if you only feel bloated and gassy, drinking hot(not too hot) water or applying heat to the abdomen helps break down gas. Taking simethicone after meals prevents gas buildup.See MD
