Can peritonitis be left untreated for 3-6 days without dying or having shock?

Hypothetically: its possible. If the body were to "wall-off" a small perforation and form an abscess. Such an individual would still be very ill. But after 3-6 days, it is possible they would not be dead or in septic shock. I'm not volunteering however!!
