Examination: Physical examination by your doctor to determine degree of abdominal pain, fever, vomiting. Blood tests may show signs of infection or elevated white blood cell count. Sometime x-ray such as ct scan. Sometimes surgery to identify and fix the problem. Sometimes needle retrieval of some peritonitis fluid to check for infection.
