X-ray time: With persisting pain two days after a significant blow to the foot, see an urgent care for an X-ray series. Until then, rest, ice, compression with an ACE bandage, crutches to limit weight bearing, and anti-inflammatory medicine such as Motrin (if you can take it) will help.

Rule out fracture: you would benefit from a thorough orthopaedic foot and ankle evaluation that will include basic Xrays to evaluate for a bony fracture or subtle signs of midfoot instability or injury.
