I am always afraid that im going to choke on food. how common is this and how can i stop worrying? i always feel food get stuck in throat.

Phobia: This is most likely a symptom of anxiety. Since you have a phobia about choking, first get an examination by an Otolaryngologist for reassurance. If there is still this anxiety, an evaluation and instruction by a speech and swallowing physical therapist at your local hospital should help you overcome this fear.

Choke on food: You may have an issue with your esophagus either reflux / GERD or esophgeal stricture or eating too fast. Rarely you may have globus pharyngeus a sensation of foreign body in throat. due to GERD, large tongue , esophageal motility issues, sinusitis or masses or stress. Could try ranitidine an anti GERD medication f/u/ w/ ENT Globus occurs in 4% of individuals
