A member asked:

Is the back of your throat down your throat suppose to be smooth or is it normal for it to be some what bumpy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lymphoid tissue: It can be normal to have a bumpy appearance to the back of the throat in the area between the tonsils. This is lymphoid tissue, part of an area called waldeyer's ring, which includes the tonsils and adenoids. Prominent bumps may be caused by sinus or throat infection and allergy. If you have enlarged lymph nodes, fevers, night sweats, weight loss, or are just anxious about it, would see a doctor.
