Resistance: Studies show resistance of E. Coli to Cipro has risen dramatically. Sending a urine culture is essential before beginning treatment so your doctor can redirect treatment. Fluoroquinolones also carry significant risks for treatment of uncomplicated UTI. If you have fever/chills or flank tenderness you may require a dose of IV medication.
