Get checked : Hard without seeing the lump to know. May be a superficial vein thrombosis which usually will settle but a consultation and possibly examination may be required to sort out exactly what is happening here

More info needed: For how long has it been painful to get an erection? And is it every time? You are probably correct that the lump is a vein. I'm not sure what you mean by your penis not being 'in a bend'? The other Dr's are correct that an examination will likely sort this out most efficiently. BUT, there is a wide range of normal when it comes to genitalia. Feel free to post some more questions.
