Some thoughts...: Herpes 1 can pass from one's genitals to a susceptible person (a person who has not had Herpes 1). Sometimes a person is contagious in between outbreaks on her genitals. That means a susceptible person kissing a carrier's genitals may be able to catch herpes even in between the carrier's outbreaks. If the carrier never has oral Herpes 1, then mouth to mouth kissing is safer. Life is not 100% safe.
