It's complicated...: Your vaginitis or cervicitis may have another cause, even if you had a positive culture for GBS. It usually causes no genital symptoms. GBS can cause other serious problems, like urinary tract infection, transission to baby during delivery if pregnant, and rarely bloodstream infection (sepsis). Amoxicillin is always active against GBS; persisting symptoms is evidence GBS isn't the cause.
