A member asked:

Is there a high danger of developing parkinson's disease while on prozac type drugs thanks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Parkinson's disease is not caused by medications like Prozac. Prozac increases serotonin in the brain to help with depression and anxiety. Parkinson's disease is caused by a decrease of dopamine in the brain. You can get Parkinson's like symptoms from taking anti-psychotic medications, but not from taking anti-depressants.
