Evaluate lump: From the description, it is not possible to tell if the lump is scar tissue in the muscle from a contusion or if it is arising from the bone. It is not uncommon to have benign bone lesions, such as osteochondroma, near the ends of long bones like the thigh bone, but without an x-ray, one would only be guessing and taking a chance of missing a serious tumor like cancer.
