Depends on the cause: Antiviral drugs will only work if the encephalitis (brain inflammation) is due to a virus; and some antiviral drugs work only against one particular virus. For example, acyclovir is often given if herpes encephalitis is possible, but has no effect on other viruses. Ask the doctor in charge of the patient's treatment.

Depends: It would be effective only if the inflammation is caused by a virus and the virus is susceptible to the medication. There are no effective medications for most viral infections of the brain. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
