Maybe: Nephrotic syndrome is kidney disease in which albumin is lost through the kidneys, decreasing albumin in the blood. Water molecules attach to albumin molecules causing the combined size to be too big to pass through capillaries so water stays in blood vessels. When albumin is low, unattached water leaks through capillaries causing edema. Slightly low albumin and leg elevation might show no edema.
