Groin strain: Sounds like a bad groin strain! the purple is probably from bleeding into the surrounding tissues from the trauma - it sometimes happens after bad strains. If there is any testicular pain, one sided scrotal swelling or problems with urination, he should see his doctor right away. Most groin strains improve slowly (but gradually). If not improving, make sure he sees his doc regardless!
