A member asked:

I am taking alesse , it has been 28 days still sex. got blood test for pregnancy it was hcg 1. what's the chances it was wrong?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Minimal: Blood test for HCG is a generally reliable test. Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.
