Back pain: It is hard not to worry when you care about your loved ones. It is likely the two issues are unrelated. I think you are doing very well in monitoring the progression of the symptoms. I encourage that you check with his pediatrician for adequate examination to see if the two problems are significant enough to warrant further diagnostic testing or treatment. Hope he feels well soon.

Go to doctor: While there are many common causes of the symptoms you describe, the combination of these in a 7 year old is unusual. I would make an appointment with a health care provider to get an exam and medical history to make sure something less common, and more serious, is not going on. I hope he feels better soon.
