See your doctor: A benign thyroid nodule is nothing to worry about, but difficulty swallowing/breathing requires assessment by your family doctor. Yes, anxiety could be the cause, but best to get reassurance from your doctor first. There are many ways to manage anxiety including counselling, exercise and medication, but make sure you get your throat/neck formally assessed by your doctor first.

It may be OK: If Manoj is on the right side, and there is no other enlargement of the thyroid I don't think that this is causing your symptoms

Get checked: A benign nodule off to one side is unlikely to compress the trachea (windpipe) making it hard to swallow or breathe. Anxiety can also cause the same symptoms. The safest thing here with any doubt is to get checked urgently by a doctor licensed in your area. They can examine you and look at your record/possibly review your images and if doubt remains they can order tests. All the best.

Nodule: You need to have evaluation. Sounds like you may have already had an ultra sound? Go back then to doctor and ask if the report recommended biopsy or not. If it bothers you as for referral to endocrinologist

3 cm nodule: it depends on location of the nodule. I would discuss it with your endocrinologist and a surgeon. They could possibly order an x-ray or barium swallow to confirm if compression is occurring http://www.thyroid.org/wp-content/uploads/patients/brochures/Nodules_brochure.pdf
