It's a fine dose: I usually prescribe Provera 10 mg per day for 10 days, but 20 mg per day for 5 days should do the same thing. The goal is to cause a "withdrawal bleed". Having a surge of progestin in your system, followed by the abrupt drop off in level of progestin, causes your uterine lining to shed, like a period. The bleeding should occur within a few days (up to a week) after stopping the Provera.
