Hormones: Breast tenderness is not uncommon when a woman has a surge of hormones. Even the most well-regulated cycles sometimes 'goof up', and a woman may have an irregular cycle and hormone fluctuations. This is most typically due to a rise in estrogen but can also be caused by Progesterone spikes. It should pass, and your cycle should return to normal if you are not pregnant.
