Normal finding: This is normal! Half of all adults test in the US (up to 90% in some countries) test positive for HSV1. Usually it's due to oral herpes acquired in childhood. Even if genital, HSV1 is rarely sexually transmitted to partners. Of course you should not break up over this. (Even gential herpes due to HSV2 would not, in itself, be a good reason to break up.)
