Viral process: Viruses are known to trigger bronchospasm. Given the providing symptoms, I suspect that this is a viral syndrome. If the cough is of significant discomfort and frequency, you could have your physician provide you with an albuterol inhaler or a steroid/long-acting bronchodilator. Generally it will settle down over a few days on its own, providing you don't have any underlying probs.Take care.
