A member asked:

Is it safe to use triclosan in toothpaste during pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Triclosan: Triclosan is an antibiotic used in some toothpastes. Discuss all medications, including OTC toothpastes, with your Obstetrician. That said, unless your OB has a specific objection, any toothpaste from one of the major manufacturers should be both safe and effective. Remember that for an adult, a pea-sized portion of toothpaste is appropriate, no matter how big a dollop they use in commercials.
