A member asked:

How does an oncologist test for cancer and where you might have it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

That is his/her expe: It is an oncologists training and expertise to make diagnosis of cancer and to know how to test for it. The way we do it is by looking into any persistent new complaint such as pain which is getting worse or loss of appetite and unexplained weight loss or persistent Fever. Any of these symptoms, if persistent for >2 weeks lead us to run blood tests, X-rays and scans which often reveal the cause.
