Epigastric pain: Burning pain in the upper middle abdomen (epigastric pain) is often caused by gastritis or GERD. Can also be caused by a peptic ulcer, pancreatitis and other abdominal conditions. If it is more than mild or does not go away with a few days of antacid medication (eg, omeprazole, ranitidine) please see a doctor for evaluation.
