Genital herpes?: Chancroid is extremely rare, with NO reported cases in the US in recent years. And people don't carry chancroid for 5 months. Probably you were misdiagnosed. The main condition that mimics chancroid is gential herpes, but syphilis also is possible. Return for reevaluation, or find another doctor familiar with STDs. Do it ASAP, the sooner the better for accurate herpes diagnosis herpes. Good luck!
