No set time: Unfortunately, delirium tremens can go on for indefinite periods of time, despite treatment. I presume the DTs are related to alcohol. The longer he was an alcoholic, the more his liver is damaged, & the greater the bacterial / ammonia load, the longer it can go on, even if the alcohol has "washed out" of his system, per neurologists. My thoughts are w/ you, but thank you for posting on HealthTap.
