PG & high altitude: Pregnancy at high altitude can be challenging for the fetus as the percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere drops considerably above the 5000 and up foot level. As the oxygen levels decline the amount of oxygen transfer to the fetus declines with resultant uterine cramping and contractions with ;possible early labor & delivery. NICU units (except Colorado & Utah) are usually not present.
