It will not be 100%: effective. Most prescription expiration dates are estimated to be two years from when it's manufactured. So if your Synthroid expired in March 2016, meaning it was manufactured in 2014. So in 2017, it may be only 50% effective. Since it's important to know if your synthroid is effectively treating your hypothyroidism, it's best to use Synthroid that's in date.
