Ask your urologist!: The stent was placed to preserve urine flow, protect kidney function and prevent permanent kidney damage. The stent may also allow the stone to pass naturally. You are probably also currently taking antibiotics prescribed by the urologist to treat or prevent urine infection. You should ask your urologist what the reason is for delay in removing the stone, mostly related to UTI or kidney function.
