MAY NEED MULTIPLE: Time to get an MRI. It can take multiple steroid injections to get relief. If you are not ready for surgery, no need to get mri. Mri will be used to determine cause of pain, internal derangement and need for surgery. Some people get relief from platelet rich Plasma. Non steroidals didnt work? Large joint effusion? Did fluid removal help? PT?

Knee injection: Cortisone injections will decrease inflammation in the joint whether due to injury or chronic inflammation. It doesn't help too much diagnostically without more information such as exam and history.
