Are you sure: it is nail pitting? Consult a physician for proper diagnosis and treatment. Psoriasis, lichen planus, fungal infection, alopecia could be possibilities.Pitting due to psoriasis usually quite noticeable.

Nail Pitting: Nail pitting is caused by defective development of the layers of the superficial nail plate. It can be idiopathic, there may be onycholysis (painless detachment of the nail from the nail bed). Nail pitting can be a sign of psoriasis, eczema, joint inflammation, Reiter's, alopecia areata. In sebororrheic dermatitis several nail issues can be present. A doc and full physical exam may ease concerns
