A member asked:

Could nail pitting without no skin lesions nor family history of psoriasis be associated with non-diseased states? for example, too much hand washing?

Yes: could happen after a long illness or with calcium deficiency.Could be a fungal infection of the nails too.

Not all the same: Not all pitting is the same. Psoriasis, alopecia areata, lichen planus are some of the things you may find. NOT due to calcium or fungus. Some pitting is very trivial, sometimes annoying. A dermatologist may be able to put it in perspective. Nail biting often causes ridges.
