Possibly: Allantoin is a metabolite of uric acid in many species of animals/plants/bacteria..not humans. It is included in some OTC cosmetics and is thought to be moisturizing, increasing water content surrounding skin cells, and enhancing desquamation (shedding) of upper layer of skin cells. It may help in wound healing including inflammation such as you may have. I don't think it affects hyperpigmentation
