MALS: Median arcuate ligament syndrome certainly could be the cause of your pain, and surgery could help, but you have to exercise a lot of caution here. It is what we call a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that we have no way to prove that it is the cause of your pain. I always recommend before undergoing surgery that you have a second opinion at a major university gastroenterology department.
