Take the Augmentin: Strep throat (pharyngitis due to group A beta strep) does indeed require at least a week and preferably 10 days of antibiotic for reliable cure. Even more important, complete treatment is needed to prevent rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis (kidney problems), which are rare but very dangerous. Complete the augmentin as prescribed, even in you're entirely well after another couple days.

Strep throat: Still important to finish the antibiotics to completely eradicate the infection so that it done not come back'or colonize the pharynx and become a chronic infected pharynx. Good luck and feel better!
