Joint injury: Sometimes a "jammed" finger is just a strain or sprain and will get better on its own. Sometimes it's a fracture, and needs to be immobilized to heal properly. Sometimes the joint is dislocated at the moment of impact and slips back into place almost immediately and you don't notice. Buddy tape your finger; consider an urgent care visit for an xray.
