Hoarseness: The larynx and possibly the trachea(windpipe) were irritated by the soda and the symptoms are not unexpected. If you're experiencing significant breathing difficulties, fever, severe cough and/or wheezing, head to the hospital emergency room. If symptoms aren't severe you can expect gradual resolution of symptoms without any treatment needed.

Aspiration: Aspirating anything down the trachea can make you hoarse and short of breath. If it does not continue to improve, you should see a doctor in an emergency room or an urgent care center. I suspect it will gradually improve. If this happens regularly, let your doctor know. Good luck..
