No: You may have some pain in the first week or so but it shouldn't be severe. You should see your doctor or surgeon.

Most likely flu: With muscle aches, sore throat, runny nose, headache and fever - sure does sound like the flu. Good old rest, fluids, and tylenol (acetaminophen) should help. If the fever lasts more than 3 days, belly pain is getting worse, have blood in the stool, or you can't keep any food down, i'd see your family doctor. Hope you feel better!

See your doctor: It could be many things ranging from benign to dangerous causes: viral/bacterial infection, hyperthyroidism, tumor, cancer...Any lumps that don't go away need to be investigated to rule out possible cancerous process. Please see your doctor to investigate these signs and symptoms. Good luck.

Blood From Ulcer?: Your boyfriend should see his GI physician. The source of the blood needs to be discovered. Most bleeding ulcers resolve with medical therapy but recurrent GI bleeding requires repeat upper endoscopy.. Also, this bleeding may be totally unrelated to his prior ulcer and may require colonoscopy if the upper endoscopy is normal.
