Disease : Could it be that this is part of disease progression. Unlikely to be an effect of prednisone. You may want to have some blood and sputum cultures sent out. Also is there a persistent fever or other symptoms.?

Night sweats: Night sweats can be due to many issues (room temp, infection, thyroid issues, cancer). Are you also having unexplained weight loss? Let us know to be sure there is no underlying issue.
