Usually staph: Boils are usually staph and the strain varies. These often occur in areas where you scratch or shave, when the mechanical action irritates the skin surface. Some of these self heal, aided by warm compresses & self drainage.Others require medication or surgical drainage. When you have several, you are likely carrying staph in your nasal passages & contaminating your fingers, which then spread it.
