No: No. Although the IUD will be very protective against pregnancy, there is still a failure rate of 3%. When it fails, ectopic(tubal) pregnancy is often the result with sometimes dire consequences. Moreover, IUD strings have been known to conduct bacteria up the string into the intrauterine space & Fallopian tubes causing chronic salpingitis (PID) which can cause sterility.
