Lumbar epidural: Reduction of pain in the back as well as the lower extremities is a good indication that the epidurals have started to do their job. Numbness, tingling sensation, pins and needles and weakness in the extremities may not subside if there is nerve damage. But it is hoped the pain in the back and legs will improve. Often need more than 1 or a different type of injection to obtain the desired effect.
