Ear Pain: Pain followed by muffled sounds is from an infection followed by mucus fluid in the ear.Try a vasoconstictive nose drops to the effected side, but the drops need to go to the opening to the middle ear. Pretend the drops are going into the ear and dropping to the floor. use Clear.ease™lozenges, one 4x a day melt in mouth between cheek and gums. This will open the ear drainage and reduce the fluid.
