Certainly: a stool examination for OVA and PARASITES would be a good idea HOWEVER a word of advice..food differences WHILE travelling are VERY COMMON and most RESOLVE within 2-3 weeks! Hope this is helpful; Dr Z

Travelers diarrhea: Diarrhea and abdominal cramping is not uncommon after a trip to Costa Rica. It usually will resolve spontaneously, but if it is getting worse or if it lasts more than 3 to 5days, you should see your doctor. You can try some loperamide in the meantime.to slow it down, and it is vital to drink plenty of fluids with electrolytes to keep from getting dehydrated. Good luck.
